• The Internet is the biggest, fastest growing market place of the millennium.
  • Take advantage of this phenomenon by promoting your business with a website.
  • Use it as you would a promotional brochure, a one, which you can change, and update at any time without having to have another 500 printed.
  • Provide your customers with the latest up to date product information or services.

Look around!

Every advert you see usually has a web address attached to it.

Advertise an unlimited amount of information by simply putting your web address on all of your paperwork, on the side of your vehicles, include it on any other advertising.

Web sites come in many forms but the best sites are generally the simplest. A good site should be easy to use, and easy to navigate through so that the customer can move around and find the information they need straight away. It is nice to have loads of flash animation and video clips but the majority of visitors who visit your site will not want to wait while this loads in. The site should load in fast and be suitable for the novice to use.

"By the year 2001 there will be two types of business. Those with web sites and those no longer in business." BILL GATES CEO MICROSOFT CORP.

"The INTERNET is a tidal wave. It will wash over nearly all industries drowning those who don't learn to swim in its waves." BILL GATES CEO MICROSOFT CORP.

What do I need for a web site ?

Basically all you need for a web site :-

  • An internet connection ·
  • Web space to load your site onto.

These can now be obtained free from the likes of Firenet, Freeserve etc. (see the link on www.gsacomputers.co.uk). This will give you a web address such as www.fredshouses.firenet.ws so to make it more professional and relevant to your business a domain name is used i.e. www.fredshouses.co.uk this domain name will then divert the user to the web space where you have your site hosted.

You then have to gather all the information, logos and graphics that will be put together to form your website. Links to other websites can also be added to other relevant websites and likewise you can advertise your site by getting your links placed on to other sites.

Easier still is to have someone create and publish the site for you such as www.gsacomputers.co.uk.

A basic Five page site with, one navigation column with logo, one graphic per page, unlimited text and links £100. See www.ryton-acupunture.co.uk

Other sites created to the customer's requirements starting from £35 per page i.e.

E mails are also being used by businesses, starting to take over from the fax machine.

E mail addresses using your own domain can now be directed to more than one mail address i.e. sales@selturn.co.uk can be directed to your works computer, john@selturn.co.uk can be directed to your home computer, mobile@selturn.co.uk can be directed to you laptop computer.

You can even get a fax number which sends a fax to your email account.

If you have any further questions regarding websites or computers in general please get in touch.
